About

Welcome to Swoon. Swoon is a place where I challenge assumptions. It’s one of my virtual homes. For my work, work I help people understand the affects of past abuse on women’s health and wellness. I do this work with professionals and survivors themselves. You can learn more about my business, Outside The Mom Box, here.

IMG_8147Perhaps because my senses are heightened now  as a mom of a young girl, in many ways, I’m noticing more and more what we aren’t talking about.  We might bemoan our flabbier arms but we don’t ever mention our actual age (I’m 43). We’re unhappy with what we get paid but we never share that number in our paycheck. Our boss treats us poorly and we suffer in silence or resentment or both. We struggle with breastfeeding but “know” it’s “natural” and chalk it up to our own ineptitude. None of this is okay. So, I want to talk about it. I’ve ranted enough about it on Twitter and decided I needed more than 140 characters to really speak my mind. So, a blog. Join the conversation…because that’s what this is more than anything else. I need you to share your experiences, stories, insights and humor. How else can we change things? And they do need a changin’!

My career also includes time spent in corporate America and small business. I’m originally from Connecticut and attended the University of Connecticut for my BA and Southern Connecticut State University for my graduate degree in Women’s Studies.
